About Housetrade - Shared Ownership Resales

History

Housetrade.co.uk was established in 2009, incorporated in response to the continuing changing environment in which home hunters find and buy their next home. Housetrade was created by Shaun Coulthwaite & Neil Arkwright with the vision that selling a property needn't be a time consuming, stressful and costly activity. Initially focussing on private sales the website and services developed into a specialist portal offering online estate agency services for those looking to buy or sell shared ownership resale properties. That is properties bought through shared ownership initially as new build that are now up for sale. Housetrade was developed due to a very real need for a single website to contain all shared ownership properties that were to be resold accross England and Wales.

Shared Ownership

Housetrade works with Housing Associations, HomeBuy agents, Buyers and Sellers to facilitate sales of shared ownership housing offering both an online repositor of information and marketing facilities including online estate agent services. The website provides a search facility to find affordable homes for sale and information and advice for buyers and sellers helping achieve an efficient sale and transaction.

Parnters

Housetrade partners up with panels of service providers to ensure you have access to the most competitive rates and offers in the market in order to sell your shared ownership home. Serrvices include; RICS valuations, EPC certificates, surveyors, canveyancers, solicitors, mortgage lenders and brokers.

Meet the Board

Shaun Coulthwaite  - Managing Director     Participated in Movember 2011, for details see HousetradeMo.

After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2004 with a degree in Business Enterprise, I gained solid business development and client relationship building skills in the retail and events industries before entering the recruitment industry in December 2004. I joined a successful independent specialist agency in Manchester which taught me a lot about managing my own business and revenue streams. After 18 months in the summer of 2006, I joined a niche recruitment firm with high ambitions matching my own for expansion. At this point I was thinking of how I could become one of the people in charge of the running of the business and involved in strategic business decisions. Throughout my studies and working life I have strived to get into a position that will fully utilise both my business acumen and fresh approach to find new and better ways of providing a service. My outlook is simply; where there is a problem with a product or service there must be a solution and here you can see the outcome in Housetrade.co.uk.

Neil Arkwright - Operations Director

Once having completed a Business Management Degree (2005) at the University of Central Lancashire, I seized the opportunity to work in Australia for one year under the Working Holiday Visa Program carrying out a variety of differing employment roles whilst touring the country. Subsequent to returning to the UK in 2007, I re-located to Manchester working for a national media services provider. Over the next 18 months, in concurrence to working in Manchester, I entered the Property Management industry slowly building a solid business base balanced between long-term investment rental properties and short-term renovation projects. After concluding a round the world trip in 2008, I continued to enhance my property portfolio and seek diversification into other areas of the property industry culminating in the creation of Housetrade.co.uk.

The explosion of the internet has transformed the way in which home-hunters research their next potential affordable home allowing properties to be viewed quickly 24 hours a day, in-depth with photos and floor plans, across a broad range of estate agents.

Housetrade.co.uk offers a service for this shift in trend especially for shared ownership, not only acting as a sales platform offering online estate agent services to housing asociations, Registered Providers, RSLs (Registered Social Landlords), HomeBuy agents and shared onwership property owners but also a repository of information on shared ownership. Housetrade has collated general market information and advice from a buyers perspective when looking to buy shared ownership property or selling information when you are looking to sell a shared ownership property. A large contributing source to the website was a recent study undertaken by Cambridge University with assictance from Thames Valley Housing Association and various other industry bodies.

Housetrade also provides additional services allowing a homeowner to register their property for trade with another like minded homeowner. Furthermore, being able to auction a property online for those people who need to achieve the best price for their property within the near future whatever the circumstances. With the addition of Part-Exchange & Online Auction features homeowners and housing associations can maximise their chances of moving into another property and/or selling their homes.
